Let your students know that they have a chance to win up to $10,000 in scholarship money form Ramsey Solutions and Amridge University. Deadline is April 25. This would make a great extra credit assignment because it involves answering some questions about financial literacy. Here is the link to pass on to them: https://www.ramseyeducation.com/challenge?utm_source=tdrs&utm_medium=podcast&utm_content=Podcast_Link_The_Challenge&utm_term=education_solutions_bu&utm_campaign=finlit_2018_student Free Dave Ramsey Online Summer Class Sponsored by Zions Bank For the past number of years Zions Bank has paid for financial literacy teachers to take the online equivalent of Financial Peace University, called SmartDollar during the summer. There are seven lessons, broken into segments of about 20 minutes each. Everyone in your immediate family can access the lessons on computer, tablet or even smart phone. Content focuses on saving, paying off debt, and building wealth. I don’t have a budget for this yet, but let me know if you are interested so I know how much I need to allocate. This is open to any teachers who have not already taken the course. Teach Children to Save Day for Your Financial Literacy Class Zions has already scheduled more than 200 visits to teach students a lesson about savings in recognition of Teach Children To Save Day. Next Wednesday, Governor Herbert will be joining me to teach some students at Mary Jackson Elementary. We still have bankers ready and willing to visit your students. Let me know if you would like to take advantage of this offer. We can schedule these through the rest of April and even May. Utah Jump$tart Coalition Student Video Scholarships Congratulations to the five winners of $1,250 Utah Jump$tart Coalition scholarships funded by America First Credit Union. The students were from Dixie High School, Juab High School, Herriman High School, Corner Canyon High School and Tooele High School (yes the same student who won the contest below. Good job Ryan!) You can share these with your students for some peer to peer teaching. I particularly like the Dixie one and the Tooele one. Be sure to tell any juniors you know that they can apply for this next year when they are seniors. 2015 College Signing DayHerriman Business will hold their 2015 Signing Day on Thursday, May 14 at 9 am in the Commons. Twenty eight of our top business students will share their future plans.
